Exercise or exercise and diet for preventing Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

Lack of exercise and an unbalanced diet can contribute to being overweight or obese, and consequently increasing their risk of suffering from Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. This study aimed to assess the effects of exercise, or exercise and diet, for preventing Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus.

This is what the study found:

150 minutes of brisk walking or other activities every week with together a diet low in calories, low in fat, and high in fibre showed a reduction in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus.

Maintaining a balanced diet and exercise routine can have favourable effects on body weight, waist circumference and blood pressure.

At this time, no conclusion can be made about the effects of exercise alone on Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus prevention.
